I agree. I put 33 KM2 pizza cutters on today and was surprised at how little noise they made. Narrow tire + light truck = low noise maybe?

 

They won't get loud until after the first 10,000 miles

 

if you are considering size everyone is right about getting a 225 or 235. Personally i know 255/75/R16 will fit up under the back fine but if you go to a 235 I personally would go wider to a 95 width tire if you could. better grab for a lite truck

 

Tires should be in today or tomorrow and I want to see them before they're mounted and compare them up against the stock tires. If they look too weak I'll probably forfeit a restocking fee and try something larger. And hopefully one that doesn't have to special ordered.

As mentioned on the *what did you do today* thread, I paid a restocking fee to Sears and didn't take the tires. I figured for me it would be wiser to use the money towards paying truck off early and then worry about tires later on. Do appreciate all the advice though, because it will certainly help me to make the right choice later on.

 

my uncle runns the BFG on his all winter those are realy a nice tire... as for tires size i went from the stock 14s mine had to 235 75 r 15

 

Took long enough, but I finally bought a set. Seemed like a good deal - $472.00 mounted, balanced, fees, tax, free lifetime rebalance and free rotations every 5k.



Looks like the same "Wrangler" that came as OE on my brother's Ranger 4x4 way back in the 80's. And they're 235/75R-15

 

What made you decide to go with Wranglers? My dads Wrangler AT/S do well in the snow but they are like drag slicks in the rain. The guy who drives the sonic blue 04-05 had Wrangler RT/S on when he slide into a guard rail a few months ago. I wish you would have gone with Firestone Destination ATs or General Grabber AT2s. They are around the same price and a much better tires. Like BFG ATs but cheaper. And the Firestones are THE BEST highway all terrain on the market IMO. Besides Michelin ATXs but those are double the price.

 

My Continentals sucked in the rain...and snow, unless I hauled around 300 pounds of junk in the bed and then they only sucked a little bit. I agree with you about the Firestones, and the AT2's were actually my 2nd choice so of course I went with a tire that I wasn't really even considering. Salesman was a big fan of the old style Wranglers and the SilentArmor Wranglers I priced were about $200 higher, so I decided on these instead.

 

That's funny, I got BFG At's for $452 OTD size 31x10.5's. Do you guys have Farm and fleets or fleet and farms down there?

 

I think the Wrangler line in general (besides the Duratrac and the MTR) are junk. Goodyears ATs have gone to the *******. Sounds like you got sold on something you didn't really want.

 

goodyear wrangler authority a/t is what i have on my 2wd. and i put like 200 - 300 lbs in my bed.

and nebraskas winters are way worse that okies winters. and i didn't have a problem last year.

 

Last winter was bad, by Oklahoma standards - couple of storms dumped 12-14+ inches of snow. Probably made the right choice by going with the Wrangler. I've driven trucks with Goodyear Wranglers and trucks with BFG AT KO's and the AT KO's felt like I was driving around on Fred Flintstone rock tires by comparison.

 

Yeah those Authority ATs from Wal-Mart are Duratrac clones. They aren't to shabby.

 

After a long road trip, I can confirm that the Wranglers ride quality is very similar to the "All Season" OE Continentals. Very smooth for an AT tire. Surprised to see that I am still able to go 100 miles for each time the needle drops a 1/4 on the gas gauge. Figured I'd be lucky to go 300 on a full tank, instead of the 350+ miles that I'm getting. For me, I'm glad I dealt with an old tire tech that knew what he was talking about, instead of some young hot-shot that just wanted to sell me on something trendy that I wouldn't be happy with.

 

In my opinion, Maxxis Bighorns are plenty aggressive. I haven't taken em through anything nasty but they sure like to grab on loose gravel
