Most aggressive tire suggestions for stock 2wd?

Leaning more towards an AT tire and surely all would be a major upgrade over the factory Continentals.

One of these:

Firestone Destination A/T

Yokohama Geolandar A/T-S

BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO

...Still my favorite, but probably not the most practical for me:

BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM2

Just don't understand how the Continental can be so poorly rated, but priced the way it is. Only positive thing I can say about it is how it doesn't ever wear out - I'm at nearly 35,000 miles and still have 8/32 tread left.

contintal is priced high cause a lot of manufactures put em on cars that roll off the lot

every super duty at my work thats 05 or newer came with continentals

I know you are doing a lot of highway but I don't think those Destinations and Geolanders are aggressive enough. Especially the Geolanders. They are one step above a street tire.

If those are your 3 choices I would DEFIANTLY go with the All Terrain T/A KO. Best all around tire and the most aggressive of the 3.

HAHAHAHAHA How do you figure that one?

How does 4.10s and an L/S keep you from getting stuck. All the gears will do is put more power down at the wheels and the L/S will MAYBE get you out of a ditch IF you are already stuck.

Those 2 items do not give you the better traction.

Tires are #1, always. A truck is only as good as it's tires. No amount of axle strength, an L/S, or even 4x4 does you a bit of good if the tires can't get traction.

reading comprehension isnt your guyses strong subject is it?

what i meant is if he goes 4:10 vs the 3:73 he has now, his fuel economy wont suffer if he steps up to a 235/75/15 which has more agressive tread options avail in that size vs his stock 225/70/15

as for the firestone destination a/t's shown earlier ... upside to buying those is you could theroetically only buy 3 and have em put your spare tire on as the 4th tire, and then use your least worn out current tire and have them put that on the spare rim .

Came from the factory with 4.10 gears - Mine has an automatic.

Reasons for choosing them mainly based on tire ratings and being able to perform in areas where Continentals were rated so low. Local tire shop sells just about every brand I can think of, so it may come down to the best tire for the best price.

Cheap and look like they'd work well. Most large trucks on the road use retreads, as long as you keep them aired up correctly it's unlikely that you'll have an issue.

Didn't mean I would be wanting the cheapest tire in the store, I meant I might go in for a price quote on 4 All-Terrain TA KO's, but could walk out with 4:


...if I get a special price on one brand over another. Sometimes they'll quote an out-they-door price that is cheaper than what an online store wants just for the tire before shipping, M&B, etc... and then sometimes they'll be a lot higher on a different brand. That being said, I have a feeling I'll drive off with a set of BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM2's. Even if they may not be the best choice for my type of driving.

Dunno if you have decided on a tire yet. But I love my Yokohama Geolandar A/T. I've put 15k highway miles on them in the last 6 months and they are wearing even, barley worn down though. They're kinda quiet on the road but do have a little hum in them. They have awesome traction in the snow, mud, rain and dry pavement.

Hate to be asking so many questions, but looks like I'll be buying this week (got paid) and if I decided on a 235/75, the Goodyear DuraTrac for example, am I going to notice any changes worth worrying about with the tires being 1.5 inches taller? Automatic, 4cyl and 4.10 gears is what I have. Promise I won't be asking any other dumb questions, but I didn't want to make a bad decision...and you guys have always been a big help.

Holy crap. Those are so cheap. $80 for essentially a 31 BFG A/T. I might spring on those.

Mine got their first excessive rain use on the way to work this morning. Amazing is all i have to say. I almost want some snow to see how well they do in that white crap.

Got the BFG Mud-Terrain KM2's on order - paid in advance at Sears today and it should take about a week to get them. The All-Terrain KO's were in stock, but I decided to just wait awhile and get the tires I really wanted. Thanks for the advice.

I hope you like the highway hum. Or have a loud system!!

Those are defiantly not in best for highway wear area you were looking for but they will be nice in town on snow covered roads. Or in the trails. Or in mud.

Yeah mine are loud. Can easily hear them with the windows up going down the highway with the radio on.

No complaints though, its not super annoying. Not near as bad as the flowmaster drone

I'm not too concerned about the noise, but a little worried about how a load range C tire with short 215/75 sidewalls is going to feel like when I hit a few Oklahoma potholes.
