So, I picked some nice new rims (15x7 American Eagle #186) and I need some new rubber. The size I'm looking at is 31x10.5, and I am down to two options:
Dick Cepek Mud Country Tire 31X10.50R15/6 109Q BW $154.00 ea
or
Goodyear Wrangler Authority Tire 31X10.50R15LT $ 158.00 ea

Anybody run either of these and have some feedback for me?
Not really off roading a lot, mostly weekend driving and a little fun in the mud once in a while. I like the aggressive look of the Cepeks, but still not sure.

Any feedback is appreciated!

i have 35000 miles on a set of authorities and they have 65-70% tread left, i love them they arent to loud on the highway and have done excellent in lght mud, and in deeper snow had 10-14 inches on the ground last week they worked well.

 

Thanks for the feedback! I was planning on the Goodyears, but saw the Cepek's and they looked pretty aggressive. The Goodyears seem to have great reviews from everyone that runs them, but not much said about the Cepeks...

 

I had the DC Mud Country and had no problems. Good traction and great looking, though I only got 25K miles on them.

 

As in they only lasted 25K? I dig the look of the DC's, but I may just default to BFG AT's. I love the look of mud tires, but most of my driving will be on asphalt. Honestly my biggest challenge is figuring out how to lift my front end enough so 31's don't rub. I have coil springs and they are a pain ($$$) to deal with. I was hoping I could squeeze them in without the rub, but now I'm not sure.

 

I've seen plenty of 2wds with 31" tires on here and they don't rub (I don't think). I found this video on Youtube....

 

Thanks for the good info. I pulled the trigger and went with the ol' faithful 31X10.5 BFG AT's and they fit fine, no rub at all. Still would like to lift it though.... I have coil spring so it's a either a major pain or an expensive suspension lift...

 

Good choice. Classic.

I ran 2 sets of BFG T/A KO's and they were ok. Originals when I bought the truck used lasted 2 years and the new set lasted 4 years. Expensive for the lifespan though. I purchased a set of Goodyear Wrangler Territories roughly 4 years ago and there is more than 75% tread left. Good tires that have even wear. That's what MOOG ball joints, upper and lower arms, and regular tire rotation do.

 

I'm happy with the BFG's, but next time I think I'll try the Goodyear AT's. I've run GY before and they lasted so long I ended up selling them before I could wear them out....
