TT just isnt high enough.
i did a torsion twist like a couple weeks ago, tighten the 1 bolt as tight as it would go, i broke a socket trying to get it tighter. And i tighten the other one so it was even. Only got like 1" of lift. I want 2" of lift. DO i just need to get longer bolts? where can i find them
would like to get the tt as much as i can, then level it out in the rear, then get 1" body lift.

heres the wierd thing though, my one bolt is maxed out, the other is only 1/2 tightend. I know i could get another inch out of the one but then it wouldnt be level.
I wouldnt really mind a stiffer ride, it rides kinda soft for my taste anyway.
Swapping out the bolts would be the easiest route it sounds like, but would putting in "#1" bars be better?
Im looking for 3" of lift, 2" susp 1" body
thanks for the input

i would first check to see if you have #1 bars take a look on you door jam and look at the spr and see what it says mine said B and i put the #1 Bars in and it made it a little higher. There about $90 for the upgrade from ford. after your done take it to a shop to get it aligned and make sure they fix the camber thats what usually is off

I didnt know they had upgrades from stock available at the dealership for that.. great information! Im trying to level out and make a tad more room for my 265's but cranking the T-Bar too much isnt anythign I plan on doing.. not until I throw the lift's I want into it.
I will call up the delearship service shop firs tthign in the morning and check this out.. thank you!!

dont waste your money on silly keys, there garbage!
first, the bolts are different lengths from the factory. the right side is almost a half of an inch longer for some reason.
second, NEVER use longer bolts! this is just about the dumbest thing i have seen here on this site!
look at the door sticker and post the spring code, us smart people can help you from there.
sounds like you need new/better torsion bars as yours are worn out.

Mark, unless you have installed them yourself, you dont have a clue. Thats like me saying "white Rangers tear up more than red ones" How am I supposed to know that when I have never owned a white Ranger or have associated with anyone who owned a white one? Like the good ole saying goes...dont knock it till you have tried it...

Have you ever actually realised what torsion keys REALLY do? all they do is crank the torsion bars even further than the bolts do. the engineering behind them is really simple. picture your factory torsion bar cranked to the max of the bolt, now remove the torsion key and install a different key that starts the bars off already cranked to that max point so that you can use the bolts and twist them up even further. They put even more of an extreme angle on the control arms and CV shafts than the torsion crank alone does.

have you ever seen a torsion bar bent so much you could tie a string to each end and shoot an arrow? with that much crank on the torsion bar not only will the ride suck the bars will start to fatique. i have taken off a set of torsion keys from a silverado, and had to put stock keys and new torsion bars back on b/c the ones on the truck were bent... and it wasnt a slight bend... very noticeable.... thats just my experience with torsion keys...
just save for a spindle lift or whatever lift kit you are wanting

For everyone talkin down on keys...unless yall have personally installed them on your personal truck then you have no idea on how much they may or may not put suspension components in a bind. I have personally seen a Ranger with aftermarket keys and its not as bad as everyone thinks. But, im sick and tired of trying to explain to ignorant people who have no idea what these keys do...that they do what they are supposed to do. A body lift is a "show item" but ppl love them. So, thats fine, buy a body lift, and then ppl gonna make fun of that ugly a$$ gap between the body and the frame...im done in this thread.

i dont know why you are getting so upset about ppl talking down on a product. if it works for you, awsome, tell YOUR experience with it, not that "oh they work good, but i havent installed them yet." thats the same thing other people are doing but they are saying "they are crap, id never own them"
when i did work on the silverado with torsion keys, that was wen i was working at a lift shop, so i put on alot of lifts with torsion bars on different trucks and they rode good, until i drove the one with lift keys... was like riding in a wagon..
