Is 1 1/4in socket about the same as a 32mm?? Thats all i have for the axle nut...will it work or am i takin a chance on stripping the nut?

I just went to autozone and got a bunch of different size hub sockets because I wasn't sure which size was the right one. You can rent them for a refundable deposit, along with the torsion bar puller tool. Just tell them you want a 2 or 3 jaw puller tool. I didn't use a pickle fork to remove the tie rod ends because I think they're a bit likely to tear the tie rod end boots. I just whacked the bottom of the end with a hammer... mine came out pretty easily.

Air tools will make the job supremely easier... but I did mine by myself with no prior experience and with some basic hand tools in about 2 days... maybe 12 hours total. Read the directions ALL THE WAY THROUGH, and then when you're installing it make sure you read atleast 2 or 3 steps ahead every time. I had this nasty habit of thinking I knew how it went together when I didn't, and had to take it all apart a couple times.

Also, make sure you pull the grease slingers out of the old knuckles and put them into the new ones. I forgot about that part and had to take it all apart to put it back together... Thankfully it's a lot easier when you know what you're doing. It's a metal ring/seal looking thing. You can knock it out with a hammer and a 1x4 piece of wood. I wouldn't try knocking it out with anything else or you're likely to bend it up.

Afterwards, take it straight to the alignment shop and get it aligned! Mine was all out of whack when I was finished, haha.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head. It's a good kit, you will like it a lot. I'd buy another Superlift before I forked over the money for an RCD.

thanks kyle...i got a 2 jaw puller i was just worried that a american socket would strip the axle nut....still worried. Now these grease slingers first i have heard of them..got any pics...how many

32mm is a bit bigger than 1 1/4". It might work, but I wouldn't count on it without trying first. It depends on how much slop is built into the socket you have.

you should be able to get at the axle nut by just pulling off your center caps if you've got stock teardrop wheels. Otherwise you can pull one wheel and you should be able to see whether it will fit or not. You'll want a LONG breaker bar or an impact to get that sucker off. I had a 4" length of pipe over my 1/2" rachet and had to jump on the thing to break those nuts loose!

there is one grease slinger in each knuckle... let me see if I have a picture anywhere...

the slinger goes where the CV shaft goes into the knuckle. In that picture, the superlift is installed but the slinger isn't there. It goes in the big hole in the middle of the knuckle. You won't be able to miss it!

Can someone tell me or show me a pic of compression stop brackets?? did they come with my SL kit or are they a factory item?

Compression stop = bumpstop. There are extension pieces that come with your kit. They're small... maybe 2"x3" or so. They're simply made to move your bumpstops down from where they mount on the frame to keep your springs and shocks in shape.

Kevin are you talking about the rear bump stop extension. If so I never used them and forgot to ship them.

use the 1.25" socket the 32mm is too big imo.

and kyle that slinger was only on your truck mine and the others i have installed it on never had such at device.


rear bumpstops are overrated...

SL called them compression stop brackets so i guess that is what they were talkin about or the front bump stop extensions. Did you ever use the limiting straps?

Are you talking about the front axle nut use a 1 1/4 socket? I was goin to sears to buy a 32mm cause i thought i needed one....do i or will my 1 1/4 work? I have 2 impact,regular

I just used a 1 1/4 socket on the axle nut.

I didn't use limiting straps and never had a problem when flexing out the front.

yes 1 1/4 socket works the best. i have both, 32mm and 1 1/4 and i would much rather use the 1 1/4

Started the install this afternoon after we got off work.....got about 6hrs in so far and we already have started puttin the front back together. Diff,cross members,bumpstops are all done. Ran into one prob...a buddy had a 1/2in impact on the diff bracket bolt and broke the head off. Goin to have to fix that later on cause we dont have the easy out with us,other than that pretty easy and hopefully finish all of it tommorrow.

yes...one of the 3 on the side bracket on the drivers side.

If it was me I would try and fix it before I put anything back together. Do you really want to take everything back apart later just to fix one bolt.
