shackle install
i was out trying to install my chevy drop shackles and i jacked the rear end up and put the frame on jack stands. the stands are at the highest they will go and it still looks like theyre not up high enough. should the rear wheels be off the ground otherwise how will i know when theres no weight on the rear leaves?

i ended up giving up for the day and went wheeling instead. i didnt go for very long because about 5 minutes into the trail we hit a big puddle and i got stuck going through it. it was deep enough to where water started coming in the cab. it took about 45 minutes to get it out with my buddys winch cause my feet kept getting sucked into the mud and right after we thought we got it it got stuck again. ill post pics soon in the pics section.

Pics will be appreciated, but as to your question.. Taking the tires off is the way to go. Another thing to do when your jackstands aren't tall enough is to put the stands on something. I use 2 8x8's about 2 feet long as the "base" for the stands to sit on. Another option is cinder blocks. I also have broken a ratchet or two; a breaker bar prevents this : Heat and PB blaster are a good thing. And its too early in the day to really give up. Good luck.

Itll give you about 2".
TTB = Twin Traction Beam. Thats the front suspension of my truck, but the shackles are for the rear so dont sweat it.
