Leveling Kit w/ 3"body lift

hi all,
Just looking for a little advice. i have a '96 2wd 4cyl that already has a 3" body lift on it. I want to level the front out so i was looking at just doing coil springs or spacers for the time being. called OffRoadWarehouse and talked to the guy a bit he wanted to do the roughcountry kit in the front. ( 4in Suspension Lift Kit for 83-97 Ford 2wd Ranger [515.20] | Rough Country Suspension Systems )

I dont really want 7" lift on it now because I eventually wanna do a 5.0 swap and either go long travel or SAS with it.

also he said install w/kit would be around a 1K and if i wanted to take body kit off it would be another 1K...

Is installing a lift yourself out of the question?

I feel pretty competent if its coils or spacers. i have changed the shocks, brakes, engine mounts, and other "small" mods. i could probably tackle a kit but dont wanna add 4" to it before i have enough power to run bigger tires.
