FL/GA guys...anyone up to the task? Simple SFA (D30 leaf setup)

I need some help...

1. finding parts
2. doing it.

SFA. D30, keeping it 2wd and on 35's for a little. Eventually I want it able to fit 37's, but I would be fine with it about 2" higher than it is right now in the front...for now, with a revision to about 4" higher than now to fit 37's (or bigger)

I want to do a REALLY SIMPLE leaf setup. Toy box, etc. Nothing off the wall crazy, just maybe 6" waggy lift springs and all.

I'm immagining it's as simple as boxing up a front xmember, rear xmember and welding the hangers, bolting up the shackles. Then as far as steering, stock is fine for now, but toyota steering box (braced).

I've done my reading, done my research, but I need some help. This isn't something I want to tackle for my first time on my own. I would like someone who knows what the heck they are doing and have at least done a ranger.

I will consider paying.

I can't take this IFS anymore...

I need help at least finding parts :)

I can weld, just don't have a 220 welder

I could do that. I just wouldn't *want* to drive it back (I most likely could)

If i were to do that, I would want it how zachs 30 was setup (which I would have to buy from highroller), which isn't a problem either. Exactly the same height and all.

if your going leaf springs watch your caster, 1 thing that i absolutely do not want to do, which i would think would be the same for most is grind the outer Cs off so the caster is right, this is an issue with leaf springs that you cannot adjust.

If you keep it 2wd for a while i really suggest a D44, I know you want a 30, but with the 44 you can have hubs which will allow less drag and will drive nice.

Check U-Pull it, last time I was there they had a few XJ Cherokees with front axles still on them. That was 1-2 months ago but its not too far away so its worth looking, also theres a few junkyards on Powerline too that you could look at.

For where he lives, that wouldn't be worth it at all. It doesn't need to be all done at once, he can piece it together and still prob be better off. He already has an 8.8, so there's no reason to get that rear axle either.

really, how much are those eb 44's runnin down there now, i know ive sold my 2 spares up here for 800 a piece to a couple guys wantin to SAS there ranger, besides, even fi he dont want them, someone closer to the guy might see them, there a steal of a deal for the money, basically ready to plug and play

and honestly, i know everyone says that a 8.8 is just as strong as a 44 or a 9", but i tell u what, i blew up a half doxen 8.8's in the yellow ranger when it was first built, threw in the eb 9" that was supposed to be slightly weaker, and havent broken a single thing since.....so i guess im must just be lucky or something

I will. This is definetly on the plate right now. The whole thing w/ a 44 is the lug pattern...but I will see what I can do.

I want to do it once and right...but at the same time...this IFS is aggrivating me.

Also...it might not even be on my current truck...may be on an 02 stepside 4.0 4x4 :)

I may be trading...even more the reason to SFA

i need tube, a welder, and a LOT of tools i don't have!

I did a lot of welding work (side jobs) in high school when I lived out west...I can weld...just don't have the welder. No one around me really has a nice welder either...I mean I'll settle for a stick welder, but everyone around me has those crappy migs that are flux core (they don't have a tank), and are WEAK as all heck.

The reason I want leafs is the ease of configuration, cost, parts, etc.

To be completely honest...I really want to do superduty axles...but that would be another "stage" to my truck. The plan would be d60 and sterling 10.25 with 40" boggers and some kind of new motor :) I saw them on chucktrucks for 1200 (the axles) and they had 4.88 gears already!!!

im telling you

ive got the pacakge for a sas

D30 with 4.88s
explorer with 4.88s
rear procomp lift springs
35" mtrs
15x10 eagle alloys
4x4 driveshaft

D44 stuff
8lug outers
rotors
spindles
pumpkin
radius arms

NOW

if you do the D44 waggy axle like brentons -- ive got two 15x10 wheels with the 6 on 5.5 and two 15x10 wheels with 5 on 4.5 so if you were worried bout lugs there you go ive got a set of matching wheels they are just plain jane chromie wheels that will work on the D44 hub

we can work something out on all of this cuz i need it GONE and i need money (:

I would need the d30 with 4.88's and pro comp springs. The 30 is 5 on 4.5 correct?

I wish I could do a setup like zachs old setup...to be honest, 35's will be completely fine for a LONG time. I'm talking long time like...until I get my tow truck and either super duty or 2.5 ton running gear goes under my truck. It's my DD and tow rig...

I would just have to cut the brackets off the d30 and weld on the new brackets? If so...thats really easy

Or...I wish I could do a setup like zachs old setup...but like I said, I'm lacking the proper tools for a lot of it (bender and PARTS)
