2008's lower ride height, need to get to the bottom of this

Hey guys, so im well aware that the 2008 ranger/b4000 4x4's ride about an inch lower all around than previous years. (18mm according to the manufacturer)

Now we have hammered out that in the rear our trucks sit lower due to smaller blocks... 1.25" compared to 2-2.5" on previous years.

NOw what i dont understand is what is making the FRONT of our trucks lower?
I cranked my T-bars ALL the way and gained 1.25".... but after having a friend just buy an 06, and parking side by site, i am sitting exactly level in the front with his stock 06, with no Tbar crank.

What component is limiting the height on the front of our 08's!?

Thanks

Rod

i was wondering this myself...

it might just be that upper and lower control arms are just positioned slight higher making the truck lower. all parts are interchangeable (thus the lift kits all fit) so thats the only thing I could come up with.

I think they used softer T-bars on the new ones. If you want to raise it more you will have to buy stiffer Torsion Bars. Do a search for the parts #'s

POST PICS OF YOUR FRONT END!!! like underneeth, that lower crossmemeber. Take your wheels off, take your disc's off and show us your knuckles Take pics of your control arms. Takes pics of your everything involving front end.

I have a sneaking suspicion that possibly Ford changed the knuckes. Ya'll only getting 1.5" or so out of cranking is the same amount a 07 and older got. Torsion bars are ruled out.

I'd like to find out too. DisturbedESV's truck is insanely low...i honestly had no clue it was a 4x4 til i saw the stickers!

its wierd though cause even after installing the superlift, my truck is lower than older trucks with the superlift. t-bars almost maxed out too.

your lca's are flat even after install....

That kinda rules out knuckles....but i still have a feeling knuckles or possibly front crossmemeber in conjunction with the torsion bar key brackets. Take pics of those too. I'm talking.......no 56k in that thread...tons of pics so everybody can compare.

I've compared mine with 07 and 06 FX4's non LVII, and even before tbar crank and block swap the difference was minor.
there I am on the left stock with factory 1.25 block, and there's a red 07 FX4 on the right.

After 5 turns, and 2.5 block here I am (I have B bars btw)

According to the service manual Ford has on PTS website, there are no changes. So its a mystery why a crank doesn't render much gain on some 08 trucks.

From what I've seen XLT and Sport 4X4 ext cab trucks have 1 bars, and all 08 FX4's I've seen have B bars.
Mine rode like a cadillac stock, no joke.

maybe the front end is indexed differently. the bars are in a different static position?

Door panel tag, under 'SPR'. Stock, mine is BBKK. Others, 11CC. First set is front spring rate, second set if rear spring rate.

the only thing that could have changed was the index on the keys that slide on the torsion bars. that is the only thing that i know of that can control the height. also this could be applied to the lower control arms, like where the hex is indexed.

Also anyone have pictures of the body mounts? did they change? like the thickness of the bushings?

I looked earlier, and I have a code of FFCC. My buddy has an 03 FX4 Level 2 and his is 11CC. So... 1s are the stiffest, but are Fs stiffer than Bs or visa versa???

What rear spring code give the most lift? And on a side note maybe the new rangers come with a 1" body drop haha.

F is softer than B I think.

C is the heavy duty (to package?) leafsprings... this off the top of my head, I could be wrong.

My code is 11CC and I have the towing package.
