i have a 1999 b2500 with the 2.5l 4cylinder.. now when im driving the oil pressure gauge randomly goes off and the check gauge light comes on and a few seconds later it pops back up. it does it quite frequently and sometimes the gauge goes crazy and flickers violently to the point i can hear it flicking back and forth.

ive been searching for a while and cant seem to find these exact symptoms so if anyone can help me out it would be really awesome.

 

The same thing happened to me, turned out I was pretty dang low on oil. Now I check it all the time. ha

 

yeah i guess ill check that in the morning. i was thinking it might be the sending unit but it doesn't seem to run any different when its happening..

 

yeah it was pretty damn low.. dipstick was bone dry.. put new oil in problem solved!

 

If your oil levels fine go get a New pressure sensor and then wire in a Real oil gauge. Those ones stock with the trucks are about as fake as it gets.

 

OEM Gauges are like idiot lights in mechanical form.
