Welcome to the forum
Only the Exhaust side coil pack and spark plugs will be working when starter motor is cranking the engine
Intake side starts working after engine starts, 400+ RPMs
All 2.3l/2.5l Lima engines were this way
1992 uses an ICM(ignition control module) located on front side of intake manifold facing fan
It is connected to the crank sensor and coil packs, it runs the spark, not the computer(PCM)
Turn on the key and check that the Center wire on each coil pack has Battery Voltage(12.3-12.8volts)
All ignition coils get 12volts with key on, the spark is generate via the Ground wire(other two wires), Coil is grounded by ICM to power up, then Ground is cut by ICM and it sparks
If no 12volts then you have a blown fuse in engine fuse box
ICM wires could get brittle and fray, recheck connections
Most auto parts stores can test these ICMs
You can test it yourself with volt/ohm meter: Part 1 -How to Test the Ignition Module and Crank Sensor (2.3L Ranger, Mustang, B2300)
AUX gear was used for a Cam sensor which helped time fuel injectors, 1992 may or may not have a Cam position sensor(CPS), but mistimed CPS wouldn't effect spark in a 1992 2.3l
