Mode 06 TID$53 CID$08 on 2.5 4 cylinder
The $53 code is supposed to show for a misfire on the particular number cylinder correct? I am getting a Mode 06 TID $53 CID $08 error on a Mode 06 scan. It seems to be at a misfire rate of 30% I believe. I'm pretty sure the 8 cylinder code represents the dual spark plug setup. Is that correct? Thank you!

Never looked at a dual spark 4cyl
Does it show TID$53 "PASS" on all 7 but "fail" on 8?
If so then yes I would say that would be coil pack, spark plug wire or spark plug issue, not fuel or compression issue or you would also have #4 "fail"
If memory serves, Primary Coil pack is exhaust side, Secondary is intake side, so #8 would mean Secondary coil pack #4 cylinder spark issue
You could swap coil packs around, and see if problem move to #4, so coil pack issue, or stayed with #8 so wire or spark plug issue

Yeah all show pass but $08. No check engine light just the Mode 06 fail. I figured that was probably the case with the dual plug. I'm going to flip flop coil packs, inspect plugs and wires and probably do a compression test just in case everything else seems good. Thanks for the feedback RonD, this forum would be less substantial without your contributions!
