Engine Swap
I have an 89, 2.3, 4wd, 5spd ranger, I found another truck thats an 88,(blown) 2.9with 6in lift, 35's, new paint (yellow) and great interior, but will my 2.3 motor and tranny bolt right in that truck? Or is the bell housing the same for the trany's? I can get this truck for $800 but i wanna make sure i can put my motor in it & use either trany, and have some spare parts that will work, then take whats un-needed to the crusher! what you guys think? And a reminder, my motor & tranny only have 97k on it! so would it be worth it to do?

a 2.3 wont pull those tires without major gears anyway, and unless yours is a 2.3 4wd (which are dogs anyway) then I wouldnt worry with it.
And im going to be the jerk of the bunch. Search is a wonderful feature on this site. Use alil common sense in making threads, and dont come to this forum and ask if anyone here knows anything about rangers. Cause these guys seem to know more about a ranger then ford does. There are a few with 302 swaps, and a few supercharged v6s, and turbo charged 4 bangers, even seen a disel ranger on here. Seems someone knows something about them on here.
