91 Ranger oil pump replacement

91 Ranger oil pump replacement
So I need to replace the oil pump on my 91 Ranger, It was running fine at all at once I have NO oil pressure at all. The dipstick still shows full, there are no fluids leaking or low fluids, it did not over heat, or break down, it just stopped pumping oil, you can tell because it sounds like an engine running with no lubrication at all... I parked it and pulled it home when this happened., so I'm stuck as to anything other that it could be.
I've read about the pumps going out (although not very common) screen being clogged, the aux timing gear teeth, the shaft that runs the pump, but until I get the oil pan off I'm not sure whats going on. So I also read that I can get the pan off without pulling the motor completely out... by lifting it up a few inches. My question is this.. do I have to remove the transmission to get the pan out to begin with. The motor mount bolts are in really tight spots too.. Is it advisable to remove the power steering pump and alternator and the rest of the stuff on the other side to get to the bolts for the motor mounts.
Any help or advice would greatly appreciated.
