4 cyl to 6 cyl swap

I have a 1998 Ranger XLT with a 2.5L 4 cyl 5 speed manual. Will a 6 cyl drop in? Will engine and trans mounts line up?

Welcome to the forum

You will need a 1998-2000 Ranger or Mazda B-Series V6 with it's manual transmission, and that engine's computer and wiring harness
Yes, it will fit, need the motor mounts for that V6
1998 would be best year, as there was no PATS(passive anti-theft system), which adds a layer of wiring and parts needed

2001-2003 is also do-able but a few more wires to deal with

A V8(5.0l/302) swap is EXACTLY the same work and parts needed, just FYI, if you are looking for more power
And alot more info on the V8 swap out there
The 4cyl to V6 was just not done that often, can't think of even one off the top of my head, because you can sell the 4cyl Ranger and buy a Factory V6 Ranger, so why do the swap
