1997 2.3 head
#2
Welcome to the forum
You have a Lima engine, also called the Pinto engine
They came in 2.0l, 2.3l, and 2.5l
1995 to 2001 2.3l/2.5l Lima head would be exact match to your 1997
Rangers used the 2.3l until 1997 then got the 2.5l from 1998 to 2001, the 2.5l used the same head as the 2.3l, it had a different crank and connecting rods for a longer stroke, but heads, pistons and block were the same.
In 1995 the valve stems and spring design was changed, which is why you want to stay with 1995 to 2001 heads.
You could use 1989 to 1994 heads in a pinch as long as they were complete(cam and rockers), but I would hold out for a 1995 to 2001
