09 Ranger 2.3 chirping under the hood
I've been having some chirping under the hood only on cold starts and colder days.
So far I've changed the tensioner pully.
Changed the serpintine belt.
Cleaned all the pullys.
Flushed the power steering pump.
Flushed the cooling system.
It sounds like it's coming from the water pump , power steering pump area.
I've tried to listen with a stethoscope on the different areas but it abruptly stops every time almost like it's playing a game with me.
It's a steady chirp chirp chirp with the engine idle.
But if I increase the RPMS the chirping slows down
I'm beginning to think it's the fan clutch.
Any ideas?
Thanks

First check if it is coming from fan belt or engine
Stone cold engine
Remove fan belt from crank pulley
Start engine
Do you hear the "chirp"?
You can run cold engine for 2 minutes with no fan belt, i.e. no alternator, no water pump, but no longer
Battery light will stay on and you will probably get a check engine light(CEL) it will go away after fan belt is hooked back up again
Shut off engine and manually spin pulleys, check for play in fan clutch
