99 2.5 mystery connector and hard starting/rough idle
So I have a 99 ford ranger that I replaced the spark plugs and wires on a couple months ago and I found this mystery connector in the process and Im wondering if anyone knows what it might go to. I was thinking maybe a sensor of some sort? Also whenever I go to start it it seems to crank for about 2 or 3 seconds before it seems to sputter into idle. It idles fine at the start but then after a couple minutes it starts to idle rough. Ive been thinking it might be a bad coil pack or a cam or crankshaft position sensor but if someone thinks they might know or it might be something else please let me know
Heres the mystery connector I was talking about. Over by the A/C compressor and intake manifold.

Try cycling the key on and off 3 times and then try to start engine, this "primes" the fuel pump 3 times to build up any lost fuel pressure when key was off
1999 Ranger runs 50-60psi fuel pressure, and it should hold pressure above 35psi for months when key is off
When you turn key on the fuel pump will run for 2 seconds and 2 seconds only, that adds about 10psi pressure to the system, which is plenty even if pressure was only 20psi
But if pressure was 0psi then the 10psi may not be enough for quick start up
Once RPMs are above 400 fuel pump will come on full time and build pressure up to say 55psi again
Cycling the key on and off will build up pressure in case that's the issue
There is a 2 wire Cam sensor on drivers side of engine near the front, its on the back side of timing belt cover, Cam sensor reads AUX gear not cam gear
The 4cyl Rangers did have Power steering pressure sensor on power steering pump or line on the pump
But wouldn't cause starting issue
