Pictures of What I have been doing over the last few days

This will kind of be like my build thread for this truck I guess.

Ok first thing I did was the Newer Mazda Tail Lights

Then I installed the Universal Power Window Kit I picked off of eBay for $90

Then I installed the Explorer Power Leather seats. With all the options besides heated.
Old Seats

New Seats

Now Mounted and Fully Functional

I also installed the wireless power door lock system I got off of eBay for $30 and also wired it to the factory switches. No Pictures of that.

Over the next week or two I will be installing the explorer center console, overhead console, trailer hitch and hopefully new shocks and speakers.

They were once Grey but age and dirtiness has made it almost black. My aunts cleaning them up and hopefully going to be putting them in hers.

Ok I have great news. I got the Overhead Console and Center Console installed today and everything works and looks great.

Nice thing is everything is the same color as my interior so no mismatched colors.

Within the next two weeks I am going to be taking the arm rest and having it reupholstered.

I had to order one of the brand new driver side power mirrors off of ebay because none of the junkyards here had any and they said it could take 3-4 weeks before they would have any. So power mirror will be here Thursday and I will start getting the wire harness made during the next week for that project. Hopefully get them installed next Monday.

i need seats bad but im tall and have heard explorer seats sit higher, and i have yet to see any 95+ rangers in the junkyards here

anyhow, love your build so far and i guess it helps that our trucks are the same color. That power window kit seems like a cool idea ... mine has power locks but no switches, previous owner musta had it put in with the keyless entry.

The Explorer seats I grabbed at the junkyard came with height adjustments and I usually keep mine in the middle. I'm 6ft and actually find it a lot more comfortable with these seats then the other ones.

I think 98 and up Explorer seats bolt right up to the extended cabs, takes some modifying for the single cabs if I remember right. Don't quote me though as I am not sure.

Looks good man! I think we're the only two Mazda's on here with Explorer Seats (or Mountaineer Seats like I have) and a full length console. Get rid of the decals on the tailgate and get a RECON Line of Fire like I have!

I've been thinking about getting rid of the decals on the truck, but I'm afraid the paint underneath the decals will be a different color.

Also the hitch I bought won't work on my truck. They must have changed the bumper brackets in 2002 because mine doesn't have a bend like the one at the junkyard did.

if you are having the alarm installed by a pro, it should only be $30 per door or so for the actuators ... you wont have switches but your keyless can lock and unlock the doors ... mines also wired to the ignition somehow so when you start the truck the doors lock, and whne you take the key out it unlocks

It wasn't to bad, just have to trace wires in a wiring diagram and see what each wire does.

The door locks was just 3 wires (black - ground, pink/yellow - lock, pink/light green - unlock). Then I just hooked them wires to the brown, black and white wires on the kit.

The window kit I bought came with some generic switches so it was just a matter of seeing what each wire did and then comparing them to the factory switch. Driver door was ( Tan/light blue - to passenger switch, white/yellow - to passenger switch, white/black - up, tan/light blue - down, light blue/black - 12v power). Passenger side was (white/yellow - from master switch, tan/light blue - from master switch, red/yellow - up, yellow/red - down, light blue/black - 12v power) I'll be doing a how to on this one didn't take any pictures of the door lock one as it is pretty much easy and straight forward.

BTW here are the two kits I bought.
Universal Car Central Power Door Lock/unlock Remote kit
POWER WINDOW KIT motors 3 switches Universal car 2 DOOR

I would but I don't have a grinder. I'm thinking about just taking a trip back to the junkyard and taking the brackets off the bumper. Do you know if the brackets will bolt up to my bumper? If not I can always drill holes.

So today I went to the junkyard and got the brackets for the bumper. It's so stupid how they always make the smallest changes between the years. The new brackets are 1/2" shorter and the bend is 1/4" further back. But now I can get the hitch installed whenever I get a chance. Probably won't be until next week cause I work the rest of the week and then I'm going camping/fishing Saturday,Sunday and Monday.

Actually it doesn't. My foot stays probably 2" away from it most of the time, sometimes I may kick it but just a minor tap. It only stick out 1 1/2" from the transmission hump in the floor.

Ok today I found time to do the hitch. The bumper brackets still did not want to line up with the hitch even though the hitch and bumper brackets came off the same truck and it had no troubles on the 2001. I am starting to wonder if the spare tire is getting in the way of the hitch keeping it from lining up. I ran out of time today so I didn't get to check that out.

I also got the power mirrors installed and they are working. My power everything conversion is now complete.

Here's pics, I know how you all like to look at pics.

Hitch installed with tow point in it.

And the driver side power mirror that I had to wait a week for.
