5.4. It's getting the 6.2 in December/January.
Nope. Same tuning and same HP/TQ rating. Different exhaust though. Although in Off-Road Mode it does alter the throttle map and transmission shift schedule.

it's nice to see some bigwig at a small publication such as yours on a site like this. knowing that you guys get your reader feed back and mingle/share things like this. i got a subscription to four wheeler for christmas and over the past 10 years have bought my fair share of the other ones mentioned.
on a side note, do you think ford would notice if you swapeed out the running gear into your ranger? i think not. go ahead and see. :)

Yes. 1971 was the only year for the BOSS 351. We had a Yellow one that we sold due to the money pit it was becoming, and the 1971 428 Mach 1.

Yeah the tech school I went to in high school (PSEO) had a bunch of donated cars with no miles and no VINS (I think I can't remember) They had a Dark grey EXT cab 1987 Ranger 4x2 with a 2.9 and a 5 spd with 15 miles on it! I wanted it so bad. I had an 88 at the time and though maybe they'd let me rebody mine! but it was too old for them so in 2000 it went to the auto dismantling students (yes that was a degree program at this school) The dismantled it and then sent it to the crusher.

That's just the thing... go down to your local Ford dealer and look for a comparably equipped Lariat 4x4. They will be the same price or more than the Raptor, without all the Raptor gear. It really is a good deal. That is if you're in the market for a 40+ truck.

my flavourite is the 69 boss 429, although the more functional 69 boss 302 i wouldn't mind having either...

Yeah not bad. Just a warning anything that isn't falling apart and is a True BOSS car is going to cost $$$$. Thats why we sold our Grabber Yellow and the 1971 428 Mach 1.
