KC Slimlites - 130 watt bulb
One of my KC Slimlites burnt out on Saturday
I never ran them all day, but turned them on for the photo shoot afterwards
At first they both worked, then the passenger side blew
Kind of pissed me off as a new bulb is $25
That is what I get for top of the line - highest replacement cost - 130 WATT BLUE BULB
When I receive the replacement I will send the burnt bulb back for refund or another new bulb
KC gave no reason why it has blown, they just said sometimes they do
Both lights were under water for very short periods of time at Wharton
The one that did not blow had some moisture in it and when I washed the truck yesterday I noticed it still was foggy inside
I left it on for a few minutes and it dried out
KC advised the lights are made to keep most of the water out, but also have vent holes with nothing to prevent water penetration
So in effect they are made to keep most water out, but allow it to drain or evaporate out if it does get in
I will probably break down both of the housings when I replace the one bulb so I can clean them on the inside
I will post a follow up with the turn around times on the new bulb and the replacement of the burnt out bulb once I send it back
This is the second time I have had to contact the factory and they have been helpful and personable on the line in each occasion
