thats a cool looking little whip.

with it sitting like it has you might have to drop a fuel filter in it a few times untill the junk clears out. In the least maybe you can disconnect the fuel lines front and rear and blow them out.

I replaced the fuel filter tonight and didn't get it started. BUMMER! I really wanted to take it to work tomorrow. Any ideas on what else to do?

Is it getting any gas to carb after you replaced the filter? If not, then it may very well be sludge in the tank blocking the fuel line.

How long had it been sitting when you got it?

I think there is gas getting to it, but I'm not sure. I did replace the fuel filter last week with no better luck.

Cool little truck! Reminds me of my old 87 I turbo-ed. I have built lots of 2.0/2.3 carb and efi motors so if you need any help or tips feel free to ask!

I built a sweet 84 2.0 for my kids first ride years ago. I swapped in a 2.3 from a 89 Mustang, used a Pinto intake,300cfm Autolite carb off my 70 Torino,Motorsport cam sprocket, header,Esslinger fuel pump & distributor,Ranger Roller cam and that little turd kicked ***!

UPDATE:

Carb has been rebuilt and the choke has been replaced It ran well for me the night I put the new choke in. I took it out for about 40 mile drive and I thought all was good. I went to drive it a couple days later and saw that it was smoking a little bit so now I have to work on that. I just don't feel like working on it the the cold garage.

I wish you were a bit closer to me. I'd buy it right now. I've been looking for another 86 model since I sold my first truck.

I haven't updated this in quite a while so here is the final update. I got the truck running a couple of months ago and have been driving it. I sold it today.

The seal between the bed and the cap was bad and worked its way out of place so it needed to be redone + I wanted to see what my truck would look like lifted w/out the cap. I had the cap on there since it was stock height.
