It made me mad that I was struggling with something so simple and it made me madder that I was getting so mad. I about put a matching dent on the left side of the bed with my foot, but I thought better of it. I haven't go mad like that in years.

I know it's been a while since I've updated this or even really done anything to the '86 but Oh well. Friend came over and figured out that the timing chain or the distributor is off a notch and that's why it won't start. I just need to get it over to his shop where all his tools are so we can work on it.

Tuesday night we took my truck over to another friends shop. It's still not running so we loaded it up in the back of my friends dump truck and took it over there.
A little ways down the road my friend looked in his rear view mirror and noticed my truck was trying to drive itself off the truck so we had to stop and re strap it down. I was strapped down fine, or so we thought, but the bed of his truck is slick so my truck slid around on it so we had to add another strap.

Glad ya caught it, but if it was strapped right no matter how slick, it wouldn't of moved... i used 5 straps on my ranger and it never budged!!

Well we thought it was strapped right. we had one strap over the front cross member and another attached to a rear cross member. I guess has it been all on flat ground it would have been ok, but my road is very steep and it just didn't work, but hey, we know for next time.

Well I got to drive the '86 about 2 miles while running and finally had to call my mom to bring the '01 and get me. So she got to drive the '86 about 2 miles while I pulled her in the '01. Time to replace the ignition switch and the carburetor. Gonna upgrade to a double barrel carb from the 2300cc motor.

My friend that told me what ignition switch told me the wrong one to get so I had to take the new one out, put the old one back in and go back to the parts house and get a different one. The new one will go in tomorrow and maybe I'll get it running for a bit. Then I need to find a carburetor that won't completely rape my wallet.

No, I haven't. After seeing prices, I may have to rebuild it. I really hoped to upgrade it, but rebuilding it is looking better minute by minute.

Truck progress report: I got the correct new ignition switch in and it started right up! WOOPIE!!! Then I put my tools away and moved the truck, did a 3 point turn and went to start off down the road and the truck stalled and would not turn on. Blah! So I had to push the truck up hill backwards, then got in and coasted it off the road. Time to rebuild the carburetor.

Went over to Brandon's (RedRocket) house on Saturday and he rebuilt my carb. for me. Got it in the truck and got it running. Took it to town and back and only stalled 5x. then went to leave again and it died and no luck getting it started again. I need to replace the fuel filters tomorrow and we'll see how that goes.
