My91Ranger's AOD to T5 Swap
#32
Hey bud I got a question for you. Did you use the mustang clutch pedal or the ranger pedal and just adapted stuff on the mustang pedal. I couldnt figure it out in you post. You wouldnt happen to have a picture of the whole pedal assembly before you put it back in do you? Did you have to reinforce the firewall at the adjuster?
Im going to change over to a cable set up on mine. Im about tired of the hydraulic bs/

haha sweet someone actually looked at this thread!
I used a ranger pedal assembly so that it bolted right onto the brake master cylinder with no troubles. I also had a mustang clutch assembly from the junkyard that I hacked apart and used as a guide as to how the quadrant had to be set up relative to the pedal. I made a shaft for the quadrant and pedal that went through the brake pedal, the brake pedal pivots around the clutch pedal. I also updated the quadrant to a billet aluminum one and got rid of the self adjusting stock plastic quadrant. The worst part was having to cut a hole in the firewall to mount the cable adjuster. That part was terrible, was far from easy, alot of hacking and fitting done to it, and if I had to do this again I would do it with a hydraulic set up. As far as reinforcing the firewall, I had to weld on a 1/4" plate for the adjuster to fit into as well as mount it on an angle, but that runs into alot of fitment issues with the wiper motor.

Now that I have everything working properly, the clutch pedal throw adjusted and have it full disengaging its amazing! So much better than that POS AOD, I have alot more control over the truck than I do before. I would have never been able to get around the dunes with the AOD in the truck. And one of the best parts about the swap, is i'm getting 4 mpg more than before!
