Got some more progress done today. Changed the oil in the wife's car and got the Dana 44 torn down to a bare shell.

Now comes time for some decision making. I am contemplating putting an Aussie locker up front rather than the truetrac I was planning on. One point is that the Aussie is substantially cheaper and allows for full lock-up. Since the carrier is already open, the Aussie seems to make sense. Anybody have experience with the Aussie?

Also took advantage of RuffStuff's Black Friday sale and scooped up all the odds and ends for both of the axle swaps and got the new shock hoops too, which I had forgotten all about until after i had placed my first order already. So now the steering, spring mounts, and shock mounts are all accounted for. Even got the steering stabilizer mounts done too.

It comes down to what you're going to do with the truck. I'm assuming the aussie is a lunchbox style locker (haven't looked into it). If so, the Detroit will give you a stronger carrier.

If you want a front locker, do it right. Get a whole carrier replacement. If you're not gonna wheel the truck hard, you will probably be fine with a truetrac traction wise. If you really want a locked front, get a Detroit locker or an ARB. Don't cheap out on the diff.

Not sure why he's trying to cheap out now. He's already spent thousands of dollars on it. lol.

I'd really love an eaton e locker, but really can't justify a grand for a front carrier I'll rarely use, and I'm still considering the truetrac, but I'm unsure just how much it'll lock up if and when I need it to.I've loved my rear truetrac but also have never tried it with a wheel in the air.

Christmas came early!

Still waiting for the final order with the shock hoops and the other half of the first order since they ran out of DOM and split my shipment.

In other news, the transmission swap is planned for this Saturday. Shaun is coming down to help me complete it. Hopefully by Saturday afternoon, I will have a 3.0 5 speed 4x4 truck, just with no front axle or driveshaft.

Shoot for Sunday morning. But of course, since both of us will be on it, it may get done faster. I did most of the work on mine by myself.

No. lol. I swore to myself I would never do another manual swap. You're just special enough for me to reconsider that. :)

How does the saying go again? Bros before automatic transmissions?

It is in and it lives! Trans is officially swapped and truck runs and drives fine. Just need to get a revision tune from Fred and I'll be 100%. Anyways, here are some pictures from this weekend.

And another huge thanks to Shaun for driving down here and helping me do all of this. I couldn't have done it without him!

Who is that guy sitting under the truck in some of those pictures? Does he even know what he's doing?

Well the last couple.days driving have been awesome to say the least. The manual makes the 3.0 feel like it has a lot more power than the auto did. Also got the Trans shifter all set. Just waiting on the new shift ball to show up. Also need to get the boot and ball for the t case shifter too. Planning the rear axle swap for the weekend of January 7th. If all goes smoothly, I should be installing the D44 by Valentines day!

Here are some pictures of the console setup.

Got the last of my RuffStuff Specialties parts yesterday. This 7/8 Heim steering kit is beefy!

Finally got my reverse light sensor connector in today so I have reverse lights again. Also, here is a look at how my wiring is underneath. Thankfully Fred was able to delete the transmission from the PCM and eliminate the Rev limiter, but I still have some evidence of the auto left.
