Thunderbolts had a split dual system using a single in/dual out muffler. Everything from the cats forward was production Ranger.

This is a picture of the original SLP kit but the Thunderbolt did not use the angled exit pipes shown:

The 2002~2003 Thunderbolt was a conversion of the Ranger 2WD XLT done on a post production assembly line. SLP did the work in its own facility in Kentucky but the finished vehicle was sold as new through Ford dealers with a full factory warranty. It was mostly appearance but some performance parts were available too.

The optional exhaust system and intake box/filter together supposedly upped the 4.0L from 207 to 222 HP with similar percentage gains for the 3.0L.

A handling option added the production Ranger rear swaybar and substituted the larger Ranger 4x4 front swaybar.

Aluminum 15" wheels were available or aluminum 16" Tremor wheels could be ordered with low profile tires.
