it wont make your steering in 2wd any different because it only locks when there is torque input from the drive shaft.

Any differential professionals here want to comment on the steering when in two wheel drive?? I know what Aussie Locker says about it but... I'm curious about this for my 2001 Ranger but I can't find it on their website anywhere...

Also, does anyone have anything to say about the install??

I'm interested!

razor edge ryan ran one and said he realy liked it and had no problems

the reason its not on thier website is because they dont make it anymore
thats why when I found a guy with a couple on the shelf I snached one up

the reason Im getting rid of it is Im going solid axle, as far as waranty I dont know, you will have to ask aussie

Well think about it... If it's a torque powered locker, and it's not getting any torque, it's not engaged. Therefor, how would it effect your steering at all in 2wd?

if you do run a solid axle ,, and the hubs are un-locked
you will not notice any difference / problems

You cant tell the locker is there in 2wd. Even with a live axle. Even with manual hubs locked in. If the transfer case is not in four wheel drive the locker will be invisible. I daily drove my Ranger for over a year with the aussie up front and other than the clicking around turns its completely invisible in two wheel drive.

We're not talking about a solid axle. We're talking about the IFS and the Aussie locker. Also, I don't have manual hubs. Stock axle.

Thanks Razorsedge for the quick answers!

One more thing. Is there any shimming involved when installing this locker? Special tools to measure the play? Besides a caliper to measure the gap between the two Aussie halves....

Will this snap cv shafts? Or are they strong enough? This is a heck of a deal considering a torsen is alot more for the front.

No, and a caliper or micrometer is all you will need to check tolerances.

You can snap CV shafts, but it's not likely. Unless of course you have a habit of tromping the gas.
