i use motorcraft.

fram filters are garbage, i wouldn't use one even if it was given to me.

I just started using the WIX filter this past week when I changed my oil. I was using the Fram ToughGuard oil filters since I had bought the truck.

I don't use Fram anymore but what makes them so bad?

I used to use Fram , but I joined a Minivan forum (don't judge me it's my wifes van & you need all the help you can get working on them) and those guys have turned me off Fram forever! once you see a Fram split open ,you can see the poor quality inside. Seriously as someone said in an earlier post , if you have Fram change it ASAP!

 

I use the Motorcraft FL820s filter on my truck. It is an extremely well built filter for the money, has the Ford spec'd bypass valve location, and does me well for 5000 mile OCIs.

 

I marked Purolator but use either Motorcraft or Purolator.

I marked purolator because that is what I am currently using, but I use motorcraft and wix as well....

 

motorcraft is probably the best for the truck because that's what comes on it. although who wants stock? My dad works in parts department for a ford dealer. so i get them pretty cheap.

 

Fram and Quaker state are the only 2 filters to chose from where I buy my auto stuff.

 

Then I would look around for another place to buy my auto stuff.

 

I work at NAPA and the Wix rep came a gave a demonstration on our NAPA Gold filters about a year ago. I used to use Fram but after that presentation I will only use Wix.

 

According to your reasoning Wrangler RT/S's tires are the best because they come stock.

Usually I get fram and occasionally Ill get a motorcraft. I like the fram because they are so easy to remove.

My family has always used fram. Never had a problem with them. Dodge Caravan - 156k Saturn SL1 - 171k Chevy Corsica - 151k GMC Safari - 245k when we sold it.

if i was you i would check out those websites i posted.

fram filters are junk, the cheap filters they use at my dads work are better then a fram, and they are SUPER cheap.

if you like the fact that your oil filter is made out of cardboard, then keep using fram oil filters.

 

^ fram filters are built to the same filtering standards as every other filter. They all meet certain standards. If cardboard does the job then Im not afraid to use it.

BTW, frams use a paper filter element...same thing that the motocraft ones do...you know, the one that came stock on your truck...

 

 

because it has a little rubber grip? grow a pair and actually turn the filter, ive never had a single problem with any oil filter not "easily removing"

 

I have big hands and the filter on a 4.0 is not in a convient spot. When I use motocraft filters I end up getting pissed and breaking out the channel locks because I cant get a grip on the damn thing. And even then its a *****.

 

It boils down to whatever you want to run....no fram not going to send you to the junkyard but why not run a better quality filter? I paid 15k for my truck and have thousands more invested in it,I run good oil and im not going to cut corners when it come to filtering it.
