Changing oil

Changing oil
I have changed oil in many of my other vehicles, but never the ranger. Since lifting , I am able to comfortably get under the truck, so I figured id just change the oil myself from now on. Everything seems accessable from the passenger side. The superlift Skidplate gets in the way a bit, but I think I can squeeze a pan up there to catch the oil. I'm using Vavoline maxlife, since I have 229,000 miles on this baby. This is my first time changing the oil myself on this truck, and I want to make sure I'm draining the right pan. The pics below are my oil pan, oil plug, and oil filter. Correct? Some of the different years of rangers have different positions, and I want to make sure I'm touching the right parts and not draining the tranny or differential. lol

Yep, the white can lookin thing is your oil filter and the bolt on the passenger side of the engine oil pan is the drain plug.
I've tried to squeeze a 5 QT drain pan up on top on the skid plate, but found its easier to just pick up a cheap tranny funnel and drain the oil through that into the drain pan on the ground.

This is my first truck/anything with 4 wheels. That I can get under. I watched the oil change video on youtube. It blew my mind how easy it was to do. All I need to get is the catch pan, filter and oil. The 3L engine can't hold much. My driving only had me changing oil about 3 times a year. I can't go to far and I don't. The oil is still really clean from when I got it. I have a ways yet to go before I change it.
Have fun Stay warm.

Today I finally got an oil catch pan. One step closer to doing my first ever oil change on anything.
Funny thing happened to me today. I test drove a F-150. It was decent priced. Had an engine light on. Some one put duel exhuast but failed to add a loud muffler. So while I was weighting on the guy test driving my truck. He came back. I just didn't do it. They said no and the windshield was cracked. Get this. The test drive guy adjusted my tie bars to stop my front brakes from locking up on wet pavement. That was the reason the shocks I was going to trade it. I couldn't believe it. I just had to share. It made my day. It made me stop hunting for a truck. Rangers RULE! That guy knew it too. He was hard up to do the trade.
Peace
