Upgrading my New Ranger???

Upgrading my New Ranger???
I would like to upgrade my Ranger a little bit. It's an 06 FX4 supercab, 4.0 automatic.
Any feed back is totally appreciated.
#1 -- I want to raise it one - two inches. I can Do the back easily but I am confused about the front. Can you just crank up the front torsion bars this much?
I want a little more performance.
#2 --I was thinking of a K & N filter set up? for performance and fuel economy?
#3 -- I was also thinking about a better flowing exhaust but because it's just a 4.0 V6 I think that Dual exhaust might be over kill? What muffler/s would be best and size of pipe?
#4 -- Is there headers available for my truck and do the screw up the air sensors? And would this make a difference with either an upgraded single exhaust or dual exhaust?
#5 -- I was also thinking about putting in an after market chip. I don't want to have to run 94 octane, I would like to stick with 87 at the pump so I don't know if Chips are made for this truck and engine in this aplication?
Thanks Guys, BOB!!

also a Electric Fan is a Very VERY smart move.
also small things can be a nice tonnue cover or window tint or clear corners it goes from there

#1. Yes you can raise it that much just by cranking the torsion bars and then getting a front end alignment. Alot of people do it. A lot of people don't recommend it. i did it about 25,000 miles ago with no problems.
#2 K&N is about the best you can get. Open filter witha heat shield.
#3 I would go straight to Hillbanks Motor Sports and see if they have any left. This is for extended cab only, but the price is right on these. It has one pipe going into the muffler and two pipes coming out the back. You can't go wrong with this system.
#4 JBA make headers. I heard Gibson came out with some and are cheaper. I would get the ceramic coated or none at all. Any headers I have had in the past helped in the upper rpms at cruising speed. Any header is made for your specific year/model so the fittings for the 02 will be there. i think you start getting dimished returns when you are adding to the same component. It's like boring your throttle body and getting an air intake. The first one installed is gonna give the greater gain. The next one in the sequence is gonna be lessor.
#5 Bama Chips can program any thing you want, including different configurations in the same set up. you can have a mileage program along with a torque program in whatever octane you chose.

Wow fast replies thanks!!!
I only want to raise it 1.5 inches really. Since the back is at stock higher alread I am only going to raise the back 1 inch. Thanks for the assurance on the torsion bar thought!
I will defenately go with the K&n filter.
I have tinted window already, a rear slider, the Dealership also tinted the main side windows to as part of the negotiated deals.
I think I will leave the rims and tires for a while. When my stock tires wear out then I will look at upgrading them.
With the aftermarket chip, I also want to improve fuel economy as well so I don't know if this upgrade will hurt or help the F.E. ?
Do electric Fans make that much difference? how about under drive pullies if I go with the electric fans?
In regards to the exhaust if "Borla for power" is true then that is what I would go with sound is cool but in the end power, (H/P , torque , fuel effeciency , etc) is what really counts.
Thanks again for your help I will keep in touch, more suggestions would still be helpful. Cheers , BOB

Bama Programmer doug is the man and will set up 3 programs ranging from difference areas you want this is the BEST bang for buck in power and fuel efficency out of everything. do a search on it and you will come up with alot of info.

and yes E-fan is a big notice because there isnt the strain on the motor from the fan helps it spin better

The chip can be programmed so you have a fuel economy program AND a torque program. You choose which rout you want to go on a daily basis.
Let me add something into the equation- Noise.
Some like it, some don't. Non-noisy things are the pullies and the programmer. E-fan, Exhaust, and intake are gonna add noise. It's worth mentioning because you can take your truck from enjoyable to a loud uncomfortable drive in no time.

I don't mind a light rumble. I have an old fastback mustang that's done to the nuts. This car is crazy loud. I definately do not want that on my ranger. I do like having a bit of a rumble. I would like a little more preformance, & a little better fuel economy. I am right now writing down milage and fuel quantity during my fill ups. I will do this a few times to determine my fuel milage before any upgrades are done. Then I will do the same after and see if some of these things will hurt or improve my milage. I will drive the same way. It will be interesting to see the differences. --Cheers Thanks Again-- Bob!!!
