Cruise Control Removal
#2
Cruise control button removal.
1 - Disconnect the battery and pull the fuse for the airbags because you will be removing the airbag from the steering wheel.
2- On each side of the steering wheel there will be a small, round plastic plug. Using a small flat tip screwdriver, gently remove these plugs.
3 - Using a ratchet and an 8mm socket remove the bolt from each side.
4- Gently and carefully remove the airbag and disconnect the harness.
5 - There are phillips screws that hold the controls in, remove these and discard the broken bits.
6 - You can just unplug the buttons from the harness.
Reassembly is reverse of removal. Be careful when you're reinstalling the airbag, make sure that you get it aligned properly and do not break the horn buttons.
New cruise control buttons can be purchased for around $30.00. If you actually want cruise, you may want to order these before taking anything apart.

Removing cruise control pads
My air bag seems to be attached with some other kind of bolt. Do you know anything about that? Looks like might be a torx bolt with a small nipple in the middle and a cap on the other side. Definitely not an 8mm bolt.
