CB mounting options

I know that I no longer have a Ranger, but I have a Sport Trac, and want to mount a CB in it. I figured that if I am going to be driving back and forth from Ogden to Cheyenne I want to mount a CB in the truck and have it look as nice as posible. Anyone have any sugestions on where or how to mount it?

I would get a small one to put in the center consol....OR do what another member has said and get one of the hand held CBs where the channels and stuff are all in the mic..

Here is a link to where I put mine in my truck; you could out it in the same spot on a SportTrack.

I did use the search function, but as stated, there isn't anything on the Sport trac mounting. I have gone all over the dash and headliner looking for a good place to mount it, but I haven't found a good place mount it that was also realitvly easy to have full control of the base unit. I have thought about doing the hand held route but I don't know enough about CBs and how they work, let alone tuning the antena. I have been using my best search skills trying to find the info that someone wrote about it a while back. I remember reading it and thinking that I should print it, but I didn't and now I regret it. Does anyone happen to know where it is? If not, then I will keep searching.

Well your gonna have to tune the antenna either way. In your case I would definitely consider the cobra 75. It is a remote mount unit. Meaning you can mount it under your center console and all the controls are in the mic unit like Scotty G wants. They are pretty nice units, just no PA functions.

With the handhelds, you can get an adaptor to hook them up to whatever you decide for an antenea outside of the truck, to increase your range.

Ive been away from CBs for awhile, butIIRC the handhelds put out as much power as a standard unit. Of course you can always get the standard unit tweaked up for more power.

Just to switch this a little bit, is there any bs that utilze a full base unit, but have all of the controls in the mic? I was looking at the Cobra 75 but it doesn't really say

Im unsure on how the handhelds work but i never thought they got out as far as a cobra 148 or even my cobra 29....or all of the drivers at my work would have them.....

Either way you will have to go to a CB shop to get your antenna tuned....

Is there some kind of mic that you can use with like a Cobra 29 that has integrated buttons/controls kind of like what a all in one is.

Would this be an ok option for a CB antena (SP?) Could I use two of them like a dual antena? If so , how would I do it?

So I just bought my temary cheap Radio Shack CB, but it doesn't fit in the places that I wanted it to be. My first choice was on the left side of the steering wheel right above the E-brake release, my second was in the center console below the HVAC controls, and my third was in side the Center console where CDs are usally kept. No of these seem to work. The left side is to contored and I would have to make some kind of a renfocring bracket of some kind it seems, and the center consol is too narrow. Any ideas. I'll post pics on Sunday when it's daylight. GRRR!!!
