Whats the differences between 2g and 3g? I'm already contracted with at&t so can't cash in on the $100 3g so lookin for a cheaper way to get into an iphone. Have a lg neon now and hate it lol how much to buy outright?

2g is a cellphone with internet capabilities, it does not use the highspeed data transfew protocols, such as 3g edge hsupa and a few others, the 3g uses the above listed services, it is also slightly larger in size, the 3gs is the same as the 3g, but with different internal hardware, allowing it to run approx 2x-3x as fast as the 3g. the 3gs also (from what i have been told) uses actual GPS, rather than land bassed positioning (cell towers) used on the 2g and 3g. the 3gs also features voice recognition including voice numerical dialing, name recognition dialing, and command functions to navigate through certain apps on the phone. in addition to this the 3gs is also the first phone from apple to use a video recorder (although the other 2 models do have the hardware, i do not believe apple supports any apps that allow it to be used, jailbroken phones can use the video recorded, and it works nearly flawlessly)
there is also a beta version of the 4g, which works on the newest data network, which i do not believe is available anywhere in the world other than a few small pockets in the united states, as this technology isn't really in use yet. it will be the future of cellphones though... the 4g is quite secretive, other than the new networks, the only new feature that i know about, is a longer lasting battery
