New Ranger

New Ranger
Hi all. Inherited a 96xlt 4.0 4x4. It’s in ok shape aside from a speedometer that doesn’t work, drivers door sensor keeps the dome light on and reads open when the door is closed, shift interlock solenoid is bad, bad abs module, busted front passenger turn signal, missing license plate light, and a busted tail light. It’s throwing a few codes as well:
P1443 Evaporative Emission Control System Purge Valve Malfunction
B1318 B1317 C1096
Battery voltage Low
Third Row Power Fold Seat Output Pump Motor Open Circuit
2 Restraint control Module Codes
B1913 Air Bag Driver/Passenger Circuit Short To Ground B1867 Battery Power Supply (ECU) Circuit Short To Ground
That’s all that I found today 😆
My daughter is 14 and I’ve been teaching her to drive. Now she gets to learn how to work on her own vehicle as the Ranger will be hers. My goal is to send her out into the world knowing she can help herself if she ever needs to. She’s currently working on her black belt and competes on the national level in taekwondo - so I have the *** kicking covered. Now we need to work on vehicle knowledge and I figure this will be a great learning vehicle.

I saw that too. It's probably a "B" code that he either misread or copied the incorrect one when pasting it. Unless his 96 XLT is some kind of unicorn.
Welcome to the forum @Joshuasvt , BTW. Glad you're teaching your child some wrenching skills. On a 24 year old truck, it will be needed :)
