New old Ranger owner
Howdy! I am the proud new owner of a 2007 Ranger single cab 4x2 with 157,000 miles on it. I can't believe how good of condition it is in. The previous driver kept it immaculate. A friend of mine clued me in its pending sale. He works for IBM and this was one of their repair tech's company truck. He tells me that the tech is an obsessive/compulsive neat freak to the extreme and they give him lots of good-natured grief about being that way. He said their tech's get to take their trucks home with them and this guy maintained it as though he owned it. The passenger's seat looks unused. There is not a single scratch in the bed. WAY clean under the hood. IBM sells them at 150K miles, but this guy resisted...he did not want a new truck, this was his baby, and he held them off for 7,000 miles! IBM is **** about their fleet vehicle's safety and maintenance: and it has been maintained and serviced at the dealership on regular intervals. No problems, just PM as you read down the list.
Things like this don't happen to me. For once I am not on the outside looking in. I bought it so my father will have a vehicle to deliver Meals on Wheels in. He needs a low lip on the bedrail so he can easily reach over into the heated containers to get the meals out as he delivers them.
He is 93 years young. Everybody he delivers to is more than ten years younger than he is. Still plays first base for the church team (former semi-pro shortstop for Falstaff back in the day) because he is the only one among us who can still dig a poor throw to first out of the dirt. Can't remember where he left his keys, but can remember a delivery route with 21 stops on it. Go figure...
Hope to learn a bunch on here!
