I have a 94 ranger and it just quit on the hwy the other day. The head lights flickered and then it just shut down. I had to have it towed home and a mechanic came by the house and put his snapon obd on it and we found that the front coil pack was not getting any fire everything else checked out. I got to the auto parts store and replaced the coil. It now is firing but it still won't start. Help.. help I need it to get to work.

Check the alt and also check to make sure the battery can hold a charge. Could be that the alt was also going bad which would cause the batter not to charge and also could be the cause for the motor not to start. Start simple and then move on, but also if the coilpack went bad go ahead and replace the sparkplugs and wires. I learned that when any one of those go bad to replace it all.

The battery is new and is good. With a strong battery shouldn't it still run until the battery runs down?? I checked to make sure that coil pack is getting power and it is. I pulled a plug out and grounded it to see if it was getting spark and it's not. should I replace the wires?

Sounds like a bad set of wires. Replace all the wires/plugs since you replaced the coilpack. Even if the battery has charge if the alt is bad it can effect the way it runs.
