5.0 ranger
I have a 97 Ford Ranger that had a 2.3 in it I swapped it out to a 5.0 from a 2000 Mercury Mountaineer I swap the PCM out and the wiring harness I tried to start it for the first time the other day and the fuel pump is not working I can pour gas in the intake and it will fire up and run but the injectors are not firing it has a hot wire on them constant but no pulsating ground I really could use a little help

Welcome to the forum
1998 and up Explorers and Mountaineers have PATS(passive anti-theft system), this disables fuel pump and injectors unless correct PATS key is used to start the engine, spark still works.
Rangers with V6s got this in 1999, 4cyl in 2001
2000 will have a separate PATS module usually located above glove box in the vehicle, if you no longer have access to the vehicle to retrieve the PATS module then you have two options
Best, in my opinion, is to send out the PCM to a programmer and have the PATS disabled/erased, no I don't no a place or the cost
There is no by-pass for PATS, wouldn't be much of an anti-theft system if there was, lol
Other option is to get a PATS module and transceiver(goes around key slot on steering column)
Hook these up to current wiring, then TOW vehicle to a Ford Dealer, to have them "marry" the PATS module to the PCM, only Ford Dealer can do that, and you might as well have them make PATS keys and add them to the system.
Or once the units are "married" any locksmith can make and add PATS key, usually for less than dealer
Another option..........in 2001 and up the Explorers and Mountaineers(and rangers) got PCMs with PATS inside, no module so a simpler system
If you got a 2001 V8 Explorer or Mountaineer PCM and just the transceiver you could just have a mobile locksmith make and add PATS keys
You can see the difference in wiring in below diagrams
PATS using a separate module uses RSA encryption, so the "OK to Start" code changes every time you start the engine, this is why there is no by-pass for it, and why module and PCM need to be matched sets, "married"

Yes, find the PATS module in the donor, usually above glove box behind passenger side air bag
Looks like this: https://therangerstation.com/tech_li...ats_module.JPG
There should be a plug in for it on the wiring harness you moved over to the Ranger, depends on how much of it you used, but you can also "short wire it" using the 2000 diagram posted above
You just need 2 wires from the Module to the PCM, the "computer data lines" don't need to be hooked up
Module needs one full time power wire and one Key on power wire, and a Ground
Picture of transceiver here: https://i.ebayimg.com/images/i/15174...-1/s-l1000.jpg
This is around the key slot
You have an option here, you can hook up the transceiver to the module(4 wires) and then TAPE the PATS key to it, and put the module and transceiver with key all together under the dash
When you turn on your non-PATS ignition key, the PATS module will power up and "read" the one PATS key in the transceiver, so PCM will work.
This of course defeats the purpose of the PATS system, lol.
You don't need to hook up the Instrument Cluster wire, Dark Blue/ light green on drawing, but you can if you want using an LED, this LED will flash every 20 seconds or so with key OFF, indicating to a thief an alarm is active, when you turn on the key the LED will light up and then go OFF if PATS key worked, it will start to flash rapidly if it didn't, and then after 60 seconds or so it will start to flash a 2 digit code, as to why the PATS key didn't work, so it can be good for troubleshooting
The LED will be grounded all the time, the Dark Blue wire is the 12volts to turn it on, in 2001 system this is opposite
PATS is only used at Key On, once engine has started PATS can not shut off engine/fuel system, so only used when system "boots up", once the "OK" is sent there is no chance of stalling from PATS system problem
