suicuced door stuck

when i bought the truck the driverside suicid door wouldnt open because it was stuck shut so i could have either gotten it fixed or money off, i choose the moneye off cuz i know you guys are genuises...

the bottom "clamp" thing that latches is just stuck and wont open, and i talk to a mechanic freind and they said that i just need to get some oil in there cuz its corroded shut..

my question is how can i get back there? i took off the doorsill but that didnt help...

can i take the door pannel off without having the door open?

Give it a shot. If it's like mine, you take some screws out behind the door latch and a few out of the door panel, then lift everything up. You're talking about the inside right?

And excuse me, but suicide doors? ....

can you see the corrosion my buddy had this problem on his sonoma but the rod that lifts to open his door had come undone from the mechanical part that turns when the handle is lifted... just another option of what might be wrong unless you know its def the corrosion.

I thought i had this problem when i bought my truck, but after close inspection i realized it was a two door......loljk

You gotta take that panel off to inspect everything. Mini doors are a b!tch.

you cant take the pannel off, because you have to have the door open...the top latch goes through a hole in the panel

I'll take a look at the service manual at work tomorrow if I remember, and see if you have to have the door open to get the interior trim out. I would guess it would be easier with the door open, but probably not impossible with it closed.

There is no other way but the panel, it could be as simple as a broken rod, like said above.

as I recall, the door panel is held on by a torx head screw behind the top of the seatbelt guide thing that's stuck to the door. Then it should just be those annoying plastic skeleton screws holding it on around the edges. They make a little fork tool to help take them out, but they're still annoying and tend to break without much effort. You might consider taking out the driver's seat while you work on it. It's held on by 4 t55 torx's and a wire under the seat that you can disconnect. Good luck!

its impossible to take the panel off on my truck because the door panel wraps around the top latch... meaning that theres a hole in the top of the panel that the top latch goes throug, this its impossible to pull the panel over the latch w/o the door open...so taking the panel off is out of the question
