speedo bezel removal?
Is there an easy way to get to the plastic bezel on the speedometer? when i had my cluster out of my 97 ranger, the clear plastic cover in front of the gauges seemed to be glued on from the factory. i wanted to paint the bezel but wanted to know if anyone had any good ideas on how to remove it without shattering the clear plastic? I was thinking maybe a dremel moto tool and cut between the bezel and the plastic and just glue it back on afterwards. oh and about rolling back the odometer.....theres no way to do it without removing the speedo needle eh? cause i really dont feel like going through that again. i feel Karpe's pain. same thing happened to me. i know i did it wrong, i can accept that. i just dont want to screw up the sport trac 4x4 gauges i just got from ebay.

Once the cluster assembly is out, the clear plastic cover comes off by removing 6~7 Torx screws:

Actually, those screws take the plastic off the cluster but it also takes the bezel as well. I used a heatgun and slowly heated up each section and used a razor blade at the same time to seperate the plastic and the bezel. Be careful and take your time as it's real easy to break the plastic or warp it.
