Racing Seats with 5-point Harness
Hey guys:
I've always wanted some seats with a 5 point harness. Not sure why... but I just do. Haha...
Anyway, I was wondering if you guys knew any good brands that make some good seats. I've been looking at ebay (just for random racing seats) and also, I kind of like the MasterCraft 3G seats.
Don't really care about color at the moment as I'm trying to figure out cost/what I actually want to spend to do this. Actually mounting them shouldn't be a problem. I'm sure I can either fab something myself or get someone to fab something for me. Anyway, thanks for any input guys.

Sparco makes good seats.....the Mastercraft suspension seats are sweet....
as far as the 5 point harness go, if you are going to get them, i would recommend a roll cage in the cab or at least a bar across the back of the seats to mount the harness' to.....the floor mounts are a bad design because they pull you down instead of holding you in the seat like the roll bar mounted ones do.....so what they do is compress your spine in a crash instead of supporting your back....i had a set of floor mounts in a car i used to have and it killed my back when i t-boned a lady because they pull you down......

What kind of seats? Rigid backs, tilt backs? PRP makes really nice rigid back seats.
I have these PRP Premier Highbacks going into my truck. as far as a harness is concerned you need something to mount the harness too, and the seats. Which usually means you need a bar that will run behind the seats to attach the harness to.
These are suspension seats, I got 2 All gray like the picture shipped to my house for 430 dollars. The seats are listed as 220 each but I know a couple vendors from another board that can get you good deals.

I was thinking of putting 5 pt harness in my '60 Ranchero long ago. Like the other poster said you need to install a cage or at least a bar across the back to get them to even look good in the seat never mind making them work properly. Then of course do you really want to wear a 5 pt harness all them time with the seatbelt laws? The first time you get a ticket for not wearing a seatbelt you are a marked man. Every cop in town will know what to look for in your truck. When the Feds say they will cut highway funds cause not enough drivers are wearing seatbelts who do you think will be at the top of the list to watch for?
I didn't do it. I have lap belts though. So I can even get a ticket now cause if they are in the vehicle you have to wear them. I rather have them and wear them then have my handicapped nephew in the Ranchero not buckled up.

The Bar across the back is no big deal. I could probably make something up real quick. However, Drayke makes a good point. I guess might have to hold off on this project for a little while. I mean I want to do a rollcage someday... but no right now. So maybe the seats can wait.
DOT stuff... sure I can go through it if they want to.
Plus the whole deal with having cops looking for me... oh well. Plus I'm thinking soon this truck will no longer be a DD. Probably gonna try to get my hands on an older 4banger or something as a DD.
Guess it was just something I've wanted to do for awhile, so I thought I'd ask. Thanks for the input guys. Some pretty good information for me to ponder over for awhile.
