Question about Exploder seats

You guys have given me so many ideas, I don't know which mod to do first. This site is AWESOME!!

I'm thinking about putting Explorer seats in my 98. Only problem is that I don't have the suicide rear doors. Do the Explorer seats fold forward so I'll have access to the rear of the cab?

Depends on what seats you want. Most people when doing this want the heated leather automatic seats and if you are asking if they fold forward, yes they do, but only as fast as the motor propelling it moves it, that is if you get the fully automatic one. I've seen some like that, and others with forward and back with up and down, but with the back support have a lever like in our rangers now.

^^WTF?

yes the explorer seats lay foward so you can get someone in the rear of the cab.....i have Explorer seats in my '97 ext cab.....work like a charm....they are power and move foward fast enough.......any faster and they would rip themselves off the tracks...

Good deal, I'll definitely be doing this when I can afford it. Got a baby coming in October, so the truck is gonna have to come second.

Thanks guys!

Are there only certain years that will work, or can I get any explorer seats?

You'd be best getting '95-'01 model Explorer seats. The will bolt right in with no problems. Here's my '01 seats in my '03 Ranger

The do fold forward BTW. I refurbished mine with new seat foam also. I plan to get new leather for them sometime in the future but it's expensive.

I think I found the listing. Was it the green 96 that you were looking at? This guy wants $125 each for manual/cloth. That sound like too much?

i think it is a different listing but that's a good enough deal. show up with 200 cash in hand and he will probably throw the seats at you.

Explorer Seats will bolt also (up to seats out of a '01 Sport).......wiring the power and heat up is a matter of running a FUSED hot wire to the proper power leads and to a switch for the heat part.....then grounding the other wire......there are 4 wires on a heat/power seat.....2 for ground, 2 for heat......but heated seats are rare in a Explorer unless you get into the '02+ models...

no you either have to put in the Explorer seat belt lower rails or you have to make custom extentions for them...

why you puttin your bare *** on the seats anyways just kidding....

a block heater helped me a lot.......the coldest it got here this winter was in the single digits and when i went to leave on a fire run at 2 in the morning, the truck was at about 130* already......plenty warm enough for heat!
