Overhead Console

OK, So I am going to the wreckers on Friday to pullout an overhead console out of an explorer. Couple of questions:

1) What is the best way to remove it?

2) Where is the temp sensor on the explorer?

Thanks

1) Screw driver.... (sorry could not resist)
2) Behind the grill if I recall (been a while since I looked for one)
Just remember to save as much of the wiring as possible.. It make reinstalation much easier(as easy as taking a part from one veh and putting it on another can be...)

1) Yup screwdriver for the 2 screws in the garage door compartment and the screws on the bracket
2) Behind the front bumper on the driver side is where I have seen them

After you remove the two front screws, there are two "clips" that are just pushed in on the front. Once the two rear screws are out, just pull the front down hard and it will come off. Then there are two screws for the mounting bracket.

There's some pics of some of the stuff and some installation advice on my Cardomain site (link in my sig).

Edit: I should have said BACK screws -- as was mentioned they are under the door at the back end of the console.

like everyone else said... just be sure to get the kind without the sunroof since the sunroof one will not mount correctly

Thanks everyone.

I have actually already seen it, it is the one with the garage door opener. Sounds pretty easy. John, I have seen your How To on the cardomain site, and was impressd with it. I will be using that to help guide me through my installation!.

By the way, there is another overhead console at the wreckers, it is tan in colour and will have all the parts (wirng harness, mounting bracket, and most likely the temp sensor). If anyone is interested I can try and get that one too and sell it. Shipping might be a little high (I live in Canada), but could be negotiable.

Email me at quinnin@gmail.com if you are interested.

If it was me? I'd view that offer and an INSULT!

[oh, sorry...]

So, how about those consoles, eh? I don't think they're worth more than $5 -- unless I'm selling mine that is...

Hi, I'm also trying to put an overhead console in but I'm still trying to find parts. Does anybody know where I can get the temp sensor and the mounting bracket?
