Opinions on seats...

I have the stock 2007 Ranger seats. Black with the gray rectangle. I had the idea to dye the gray part red. I am doing some other red details on the truck so I think that would give it a good custom look.

This would not be a color match, I have a DSG Ranger.

Does anyone have any experience with coloring your seats? Do you think I am crazy?

I think it would be better just taking it to a upholstery shop and getting a professional to do it. How would you prevent the dye from going on the rest of the seat and not just the insert?

Well I was thinking I would tape it off really well. Also, the rest of the seat is black so I don't think the red would show up on that. Not sure thought, hoping someone has done it.

The problem is over time your @$$ and your back are probably going to wear it off, unless its upholstered.

I've never thought painting or dyeing seats was a good idea, I think summer heat would be bad on them as well.

Thats probably true.

Hmmm. well then I guess my question is do you think the red would look good enough to make it worth getting it upholstered?

The Level IIs used to come with blue or red inserts, I always loved those seats. I think it would look good.

Another option is to go with seat covers. KLC has some Wet Okele seat covers in his 2007 and they look killer. Not the cheapest thing but they're the best seat covers you can buy.

A little late but YES !

Once I get situated with all of the interior mods completed I am going to look into changing up the Seat Coverings.
Not sure it OEM but I want the red Lvl II Centers.
Time will tell.

Post up if you have it done or when you have it done.

Haven't done it yet. The red seats are hard to find. Have seen a few blue sets but all are in rough shape.

i would take them to a shop and have them change out the centers. i do stuff like that all the time. takes about 2 hours to do both seats.

I agree with the above contributions. Take your seats to a shop and have the red inserts sewed in. Dyeing would most likely turn out horrible and once you mess up your stuck with it and will have to fix it anyways. This way it saves you time and is done right! I say go for it. This will definitely give your car a custom feel to it.
