OHC Temp sensor Question?

Thinking of getting an OHC to pull the LCD out in order hook up the temp and possibly direction indicator.

Would this work if everything is wired without tapping into the required wires behind the radio and at the GEM? Basically would the temp and direction work if I wired everything straight to the battery?

Also. A buddy works at a salvage yard that got a boat load of Explorers in from the Clunkers program and I might have access to some OHC's. Are people out there still looking for them or has the Clunkers program allowed all that want them to easily obtain them?

Thank you.

Hmmm... never really thought about that... You would probably still need to hook up the necessary wires to get it to work.

Question: If all you did was power it from the battery where would it pull the temperature from?

Well I would obviously have the temp sensor bolted to the frame.

I was mainly interested if the device will work withotu the speed sensor hoked up, dimemr hooked up, ect that is located behind the dash.

I just hate cutting up wiring on a new truck. 07 with 27K on it.

Thank you for the info. I was willing to pick a few up if ym buddy's boss would let me take them for short money but if demand is low than I will just get one or 2 for me to play with.

Hmmm... Just thought of this. OHC in focus...

Sent him a text and hopefully will know Monday or Tuesday.

I'm going to try and get over to the yard Monday afternoon or Tuesday.

It's Ken's auto salvage in Kingston or East Kingston MH if you want to give them a call.

the reason for the speed sensor wire is to tell the console the vehicle is moving, to allow accuracy of the temp. not sure about the dimmer.

x2

If the speed sensor is not hooked up, your temperature will be off.

Buddy finally got back to me.
His quote "What year"
I told him anything from 2000 on with 4.10 LSD and 31 spline.

Did you get a chance to call them?

I never made it over to the yard yet. It's like 15-20 minutes away but I work in the other direction. My life for the last 4+ years has been in the direction of where I work.
