Jeep center console in 2000 in place of center seat

I got my ranger after owning an s10 blazer for a long time. The blazer was a four door and had tons of room for all types of stuff, tool boxes in the back, small commonly used hand tools it the door/dash/and deep center console. Since owning my ranger I've had a blast with it. The only problem was that I wanted that organization and storage space back. So this is my solution. I'm sure that it's been done before with stock-ish components out of explorers and etc. but this fit my purposes and only cost about $80. The center console is from ebay by rampage and it did come in a "black denim" color and needed to be painted, a two dollar can of fabric paint from autozone did the job. I also built an overhead storage rack for the back section of the cab. This now holds my jacket and sweatshirts when it's not freezing. The rack it made out of conduit piping and nylon strapping.

Let me know what you think about it. I mean it's done and permanent now, but I always like to have a second opinion on stuff.

I think it looks good, I have a Taurus console and seats, has teh flip up middle for cup holders and stuff. I like it.

That thing looks deep though. How big is it? Cna you fit Ice and Beer in it? That'll be my next console upgrade. lol

That looks very good! I am in the same boat as I took out my 60/40 seats and put Honda buckets in it. It looks like you have a lockable compartment in there as well. How did you attach it to the floor?

lol, actually it does come with a plastic insert for the center that acts as an ice/six pack holder. no joke.

I actually just used long screws and drilled through the floor. Sort of half assed, but I cut the screws with a hack saw underneath the body and just put some rtv gasket sealant on each one to prevent body rusting. The thing doesn't move, but I wish I did something more well thought out instead of just dropping screws through it and the floor.

It looks good, those screws will be fine. Do you think I could put a roof rack in my single cab?

The only problem I see with it is that it eliminates some head room. I'm about 5'11" and I really can't get rid of any room in the front of the cab. The reason why the back section rack worked well was because most of the time I don't have people back there.

Sure, I'll take it out and post some pictures of it. It's made of 1/2" conduit(spelling?) bent into an oval. Might be a couple of days until I have time to take the pictures of it though..
