These are white gauges but they are pretty badass if you ask me.

In my signature is the link, but here's a quick link:

And here's what they look like (along with my other additions such as 2 way radios, EATC, etc.)
Recent pic:
Older pic (you can also see the OHC up top, and my old hand painted HVAC overlays, prior to EATC installation):
Soon, thanks to some spare parts from MRC (Marc) and Wowak (Brian), I will be rid of that lousy green radio display!

I didn't find the dash that big a deal. Just time consuming and requires attention to detail like noting the normal temperature, engine running, needle positions.
Speedo is harder. I calibrate it with the guages in place but all the dash covers off using my GPS. Get on the highway, set the cruise, read the GPS, place the needle on enough to hold it's place. Then I stop and seat it properly, drive home and finish putting everything back together.
If it's too much, I don't know what to tell you. I never saw a set of red gauges that I wanted -- or at all. So I made some.

The Votrax was cool because even though it was very "robotic" sounding, it was super low overhead. It has 64 phonemes it could speak and you drove it like an old parallel printer: you strobed a 8 bit word into it (6 bits for phoneme, 2 bits for pitch) and you waited for the ready signal before feeding the next one.
Tell it to make "H", "EH" "LL" and "O" and it would say "hello" and so forth. My name would be "D" "J" "AH" "N". For each sound there was a unique 6 bit code.
Of course, you had to plan what you would say in advance and store it in a table in the EPROM, but for a small vocabulary of warnings words and some standard prepositions, conjunctions, etc. you could have it say things like: "WARNING OIL PRESSURE IS LOW...REPEAT...OIL PRESSURE IS DANGEROUSLY LOW" That message played for me once on the turnpike and when I got out to check the oil I couldn't see it on the dip stick, lol -- this was an OLD Saab.
Anyway, shows like that made me want to have some kind of talking technology, even though it was WAY off from the show. I still have the metal box and controller board, but I know longer have the cross compiler for the Z8 (or a working EPROM programmer). I think I have a few Votrax boards still around somewhere....hmmm....

Oh, that's right, I forgot about that. It's funny though, guys with black gauges often want the white, and vice-versa. I guess it's human nature to be contrary, lol.
You want red lettering on black even by daylight, right? Mine are only red at night, they are standard black face and white letters by day.
