Can you put 'house type' carpet into a Ranger? With or without padding? Or do you have to put in the 'automotive carpet ' in the truck? I was thinking of having someone install carpet..to hopefully add some sound deadening to the floor, by using 'regular' carpet...instead of 'automotive' carpet. But would it degrade faster or look stupid or is it just not a good idea?? I would REALLY like to get a bright yellow carpet to match the truck....I don't know if any 'automotive' carpet comes in that color. I have seen it in 'regular' carpet. But if it isn't a good idea...then I don't want to waste the money and time. Also...are the seats easily removed? Or are they bolted in with special bolts or something?? Can you get the seats out with the door on? Or do you put the carpet in with the seats in the cab??

You can put any kind of carpet you want . I've seen sites on the internet that sell molded carpet in many colors and will fit right in your truck with a minimum of cutting. My seats are buckets and held in by 4 Torx bolts in each one. Came out real easy but I have a 4door. mjktg99 on Gen-Edge has a regular cab and he had his seats out, you may want to PM him.

I have that socket if you want to borrow it. Or, you can go to discount auto and buy one for under $6, I think.

It's like 4 Torx bolts to remove the seat. I'd tell you the size, but Bryan has mine so I can't check... :) But it's like 45 or 55. I had to goto sears to find mine, it was so big that they sold them separately not in the sets.
But carpet is carpet. Automotive carpet is probably just purpose built for a vehicle. Shorter height, pretty dense, and not as much cushion plus maybe some special heat tolerance, but that's just a guess.
