pull back fabric.

cut foam along crease/line (will be obvious when you pull back the fabric)

take sawzall (yes it is safe) cut down tha tline on the metal.

cut a chunk of foam to fill new gap

pull down fabric, sew it together to make it nicer or get a seat cover

It's the 60/40 to 40/40 seat mod that involves removing the center seat and armrest/console. basically you get bucket seats outta the deal, at no cost! woohoo!

Yea, the crappy console. Then you replace with an Explorer console

im not sure how the console mounts on the rangers, but on my F150 i removed the center seat to build a sub box, and fabbed up new brackets so the console was still there. not sure if that could be done with the ranger or not, id have to look at it.

the f-150s actually have a seperate center seat sometimes referred to as a jumper seat. so pretty much when you or a bench seat instead of buckets, they take that center seat(sometimes called a jump seat) out and put a conole in its place.

the ranger's middle seat is attached to the drivers side and needs to be cut off.

whats up guys....this truck came with buckets but i did it on my 93 with a 60/40....took about 2 hours cuz i used a hacksaw...didnt know what a dremel was at that time, and didnt own a sawzall....but own them both now! pull out your seat, flip it over....pull off the fabric covering the 20% of the seat you dont want (but dont cut it)...cut off the foam, and cut the support bars. lay the fabric back down, and sew it, or buy seat covers (like i did).

you should expect to pay between 75 and 150 for an explorer center console. pull one out of a junkyard, or get one off ebay

you can still use a stick and an explorer console, the top section on that picture of my truck, i pulled off the cubby holes, and fiberglassed some abs plastic. you can just pull out the cubby holes and leave the gap there, thats where you shifter will go, and you will still have the cupholders. "gumby" from rps (hes not around that much anymore) he had some dude custom sew him a shifter boot once he installed the console.

as for relocating the switch, if you need it really bad, you can extend the wires a couple inches, and cut out the side of the console, and mount it there....i dont need my switch, so it stays connected down under the console.

On my 01 edge, there was some kind of tensioner on the right side of the drivers seat. Make sure you don't cut into it, it will be a problem. The easier thing to do is remove the drivers seat, then you can see what to avoid :)

I also have the 5spd. I did it about 3 or 4 years ago and bought a $25 console from Wal-Mart.

This is back when I first did it. Interior looks a little different now.

You bought that console from walmart?? I love it cause it has a lock and I often have no doors...
