96 Ranger Lighter Removal
OK probably a dumb question but . . .
96 Ranger with the cig lighter next to the ash tray (not by the radio) - how does it come out?
I don't see any way to get to it with the ash tray out. Nothing in the Haynes manual.
I don't want to break it just need to replace the element.
Thank you

From what I can see in Web pictures... your Lighter is the same as my 2003 Lighter ; problem is I don't remember which of two ways it comes apart.
Remove the HVAC/Radio Bezel.
The Lighter can come apart be either... removing a nut from the rear of the housing or the rear half of the Lighter will unscrew.
The is a Power Port and Cig Lighter are in the Bezel, the lighter is the lower one. I think the Lighter is the one that has the Nut on the rear.
Once you get the Bezel off you will see what I am saying.
Also, once you take out the two lower screws, be careful, pull the Bezel off, its mounting pegs/clips holding it in.
They can break easily so go slow, maybe a plastic prying tool can help.
Luck
