4 cup holders, none work....how to fix it?
So wtf Ford, I mean really. My 99 Ranger has a 5spd and 2 cupholders in the lower console. Also, I put in a shorty console, which added 2 ADDITIONAL cup holders. so I have now 4 CUP HOLDERS.... AND 0 PLACES TO HOLD A CUP!!!
No matter how big or small the cup, they just NEVER stay in. I drive a manual, and whenever I have a cup it sits inbetween my legs while I drive. This is dumb.... I need to make the cupholders support a cup enough to hold it in place while I drive. No, I dont drive like a mad man, I just mean like daily driving.....
Does anyone else have this problem, or just me? There had got to be a way to mod these holders to work right... anyone?

well if i am running around with a drink, I use a nalgene. This really comes into play when I get fast food and I have to support the cup well (say like an average sized Buger King or Sonic cup). The smaller diameter inside the cup holder is not to small. The problem is sidewall support. it isn't deep enough to support the cup when there is a change in acceleration (forward/reverse and also lateral ie a turn)... so its all fine until I step on the brake or make a 90 degree turn, then the cup flies out and hits the floor. so needless to say I have learned to drive a clutch very well with legs squeezed together, but I feel like its stupid to do that when I should be ab;e to just use a cup holder
IE - the C.G. of the full cup is higher then the sidewall supports

do you have the little inserts that extend up in the lower cup holders near the shifter?
they work great for smaller cups(like medium fast food cups) and for the larger cups with the stepped bottom. just pull the insert up and the cup fits down thru the insert; gives the cups alot more support from tipping over.
those are the best cup holders in any ford ive ever had. the center console holders always suck.

I have one of the little inserts (the other was missing when i got the truck). I do use it, and I guess it works most of the time. But the two on the console I put in....yeah, they are useless.... I was thinkin about maybe cutting the bottom out and making it deeper with fiberglass or pvc pipe and pvc cement...

Dang, I fully agree with you on those center console ones..! three time sin the space of 14 miles on I-14 heading east out of Vancouver (55mph, very twisty turny left and rights all over, steep hills and such) and my big damned cup spilled every time on a sharp turn right onto my dang gas foot! I got soda in my shoe and on my rubber floor mat.. damn thing, lol.
I think I may go ahead and try to mod it in some way, it jsut isnt deep enough, and is much to wide at the bottom and gets even wider at the top :-(

I have the same problem when I have my water bottles in my cupholders, they just plop out when going around a corner or even stopping. I would like to find an stx center console for my rig but the cupholders are the same I feel. The one thing that stays in the cup holder is a 24oz can of Monster Energy Drink. And that BFC is just way to much can for the cup holder...lol

i was quoted $23 with my discount.
my dad cut his up for his t-case shifter so i stole his, now i have two.
the only cups i have problems with are the 44oz ones from speedway, they never fall out, they just don't fit right because the dash is in the way.
